Goodreads Monday : 2/10/20

Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. The meme is pretty easy to follow, to participate simply choose a random book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it!

After randomizing via Goodreads (going to my to-read shelf, scrolling down and putting sort order by random) the following book tumbled first from that crowded shelf…

Middlegame by Seanan McGuire (Amazon Affiliate Link*)

Summary – Meet Roger. Skilled with words, languages come easily to him. He instinctively understands how the world works through the power of story.

Meet Dodger, his twin. Numbers are her world, her obsession, her everything. All she understands, she does so through the power of math.

Roger and Dodger aren’t exactly human, though they don’t realise it. They aren’t exactly gods, either. Not entirely. Not yet.

Meet Reed, skilled in the alchemical arts like his progenitor before him. Reed created Dodger and her brother. He’s not their father. Not quite. But he has a plan: to raise the twins to the highest power, to ascend with them and claim their authority as his own.

Godhood is attainable. Pray it isn’t attained.

Thrilled to see this title pop up! I almost read Every Heart A Doorway at the end of 2019 but didn’t quite make it. For those who have read Seanan McGuire’s work, is it better to start with the Wayward Children series (first book being the aforementioned Every Heart A Doorway) or would Middlegame be a better choice? This author also has several other books as well. Hoping to finally try something by her this year! Middlegame is quite a tome (over 500 pages) but it seems like a polarizing book that if you love- you’ll utterly love. That seems to be the consensus from reviews I’ve read so far. Anyway, am glad to finally be posting another Goodreads Monday after some time! Sorry for my limited activity- still writing reviews and reading more now. More post plans to come, still catching up with posts on WordPress Reader. If you’re reading this, thanks for your time and for checking out this post.~ Kitty

  1. I still haven’t read anything by this author although I’m really on the fence about whether I’ll like her works or not (based on reviews I’ve read). Her books sound super interesting though! Hope you enjoy 🙂
