WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading?
You’re Not Listening is a newly released (01/07/2020 release date) non fiction that I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of via BookishFirst. The sample was an invigorating read, covering many topics in very little pages. As for how the full book measures up- you’ll see. Review coming soon, and I’m planning to read more non-fiction in general this year.
The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward is a lengthy (430+ pages) romance, the first in a three-part series. While filed as contemporary romance this series has a somewhat unusual vibe to it. Unusual for the late 2010s at least. A far cry from her lengthy paranormal romance series The Black Dagger Brotherhood, The Bourbon Kings is about a decadently rich southern family. It kind of reminds me of early 90s soap operas in a goofy “what will they do next?” sort of way, but the story does take some dark and more serious turns. On the exterior this family is teeming with prosperity and conform to a high society lifestyle. But secretly, every heir/heiress has faced trauma and seems to be hiding a multitude of secrets. There’s a lot more to say, and I do plan on reviewing it in the future upon completion.
What did you recently finish reading?
After having a pretty intense reading slump from November-December, I went on a reading frenzy during the last two weeks of December to wrap-up some personal reading goals for the year. Finished many “short” books (ones under 200 pages, basically) and read some titles that I’d been meaning to read for years and years. These three are among the top of that list. So many reviews to write, and am hoping this time I’ll get back into the swing of this hobby as I do miss being so active.
What do you think you’ll read next?
The Kiss Quotient was on my overdrive library wait list for 6 months at least. Always kind of shocking to see your turn finally queue up after such a wait. Have heard many lovely things about this title- hopefully will still be in the mood for a contemp romance whe reading it.
The Majesties is an ARC that will be released in late January. And as for The Ten Thousand Doors of January, after reading many glowing reviews yet forgetting every revealing detail- it will be wonderful going into the book mostly blind. And silly as it sounds, the fact that this book has January in the title also has me geared to want to finish it this month, lol.
Are you planning to read any of these titles or already have? I hope you’ve been having a good week and thanks so much for still reading and supporting my blog though the posting schedule has been quieter as of late. So many reviews to write and ones I’ve finished and intend to polish up before posting. Also looking forward to reading everyone’s blogs and catching up after this longer-than-expected break. ❤ ~ Kitty
Ooh, I’ve never read anything by J.R. Ward but what you’ve written about this book definitely has me intrigued! I just might have to check it out 😅 Looking forward to hearing what you think of TKQ! I loved that book, and The Bride Test and am so excited for the third book in the series that my brain tricked me into thinking it was out this year when it’s not LOL 🤣 Happy reading, Kitty! Glad to hear that you kicked that slump to the curb!

Thanks so much Dini! I’m very much looking forward to finally reading The Kiss Quotient, I imagine it had such a long wait time for a reason- so many people love it! Will definitely have to keep an eye out for The Bride Test too.

It’s tricky with massively hyped books, but I do hope you enjoy it. I was just happy to start seeing Asian leads in contemporary romance, but I also think the rep is done well! Look forward to your thoughts lol happy reading, friend 😍
