Goodreads Monday : 9/30/19

Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. The meme is pretty easy to follow, to participate simply choose a random book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it!

After randomizing via Goodreads (going to my to-read shelf, scrolling down and putting sort order by random) the following book tumbled first from that crowded shelf-

Magic Bites (#1 in the Kate Daniels Series) by Ilona Andrews

New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews invites you to experience the first novel in the “intriguing world” (Locus) of Kate Daniels with this special edition of Magic Bites

Kate Daniels is a down-on-her-luck mercenary who makes her living cleaning up magical problems. But when Kate’s guardian is murdered, her quest for justice draws her into a power struggle between two strong factions within Atlanta’s magic circles. Pressured by both sides to find the killer, Kate realizes she’s way out of her league—but she wouldn’t want it any other way…

This special edition includes in-depth information about the world of Kate Daniels, with descriptions of its characters and factions. Explore Kate’s Atlanta like never before with answers to FAQ and a quiz to find your place there. And don’t miss the prequel story “A Questionable Client,” as well as scenes of events in Magic Bites from Curran’s point of view.

I’ve been in line for this book on Overdrive / Libby for months and it’s very lucky that this book rolled out as a random first choice on my Goodreads because the Amazon Kindle eBook is on sale for $2.99 right now. (note: affiliate link) Bought it, and looking forward to reading it this year. I have heard so many great things about the Kate Daniels series. It’s an urban fantasy/paranormal romance with ten books. Known for having fabulous banter and many impressive entries. It’s worth mentioning though that the first book, despite having many good reviews, is not considered best-in-series. It is helpful, however, for introducing characters and laying groundwork for the world utilized in future books. Still sounds fun and I’m looking forward to jumping into this rabbit hole of a series.

Have any of you read any books by Ilona Andrews or have her books on your TBR? Will be curious to hear your thoughts. Thanks as always for checking into this week’s Goodreads Monday. ~ Kitty.

  1. I’ve been wanting to give the Kate Daniels series a try for a while now. It has also been sitting on my TBR for AGES. I love how Andrews writes such strong, intelligent and capable female characters as well as funny-as-heck banter. Hope we enjoy this one! ❤ Jen
