Goodreads Monday is a weekly meme that was started by @Lauren’s Page Turners. The meme is pretty easy to follow, to participate simply choose a random book from your TBR and explain why you want to read it!
After randomizing via Goodreads (going to my to-read shelf, scrolling down and putting sort order by random) the following book tumbled first from that crowded shelf-

Incarceron (#1 in series) by Catherine Fisher
Incarceron is a prison so vast that it contains not only cells and corridors, but metal forests, dilapidated cities, and wilderness. It has been sealed for centuries, and only one man has ever escaped. Finn has always been a prisoner here. Although he has no memory of his childhood, he is sure he came from Outside. His link to the Outside, his chance to break free, is Claudia, the warden’s daughter, herself determined to escape an arranged marriage. They are up against impossible odds, but one thing looms above all: Incarceron itself is alive . . .
Ooo this is a bit of a throwback YA! So, personal note, I got really into YA at about 2005-2007 then had the mother of all reading slumps for a decade and am finally back at it again these past couple of years. I’m never going to let a reading slump like that happen again, I am a reader for life! But anyway, Incarceron’s beautiful cover and interesting description caught my attention. I almost picked it up from a thrift store but didn’t for some reason. If anyone has read this one, I’d love to hear your thoughts. It still sounds super interesting!
Thanks for checking out my GR Monday post this week, I look forward to seeing yours if you do it and—

This sounds SO GOOD. I love the idea of the prison. I’ve never heard of that idea before. And despite its grimness I like stories that have arranged marriages. Trying to escape the marriage usually leads to interesting events. Lovely post 💙 Jen

I remember this one, I think it is book one of a series. I don’t think I finished it though, something about the characters and the setting was very confusing, but it’s been a long time ago. The cover is still beautiful!
