First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?

Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page. Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first

Finally… reveal the book!

Hello everyone! I hope you’ve all been having a great week and an even greater Friday! Hoping to get through at least one more book this weekend and a novella, and finish up a review that’s in the works. Many thanks to everyone for your support~ 😀

Without further ado, who are the first lines..

I have a theory. Hating someone feels disturbingly similar to being in love with them. I’ve had a lot of time to compare love and hate, and these are my observations. Love and hate are visceral. Your stomach twists at the thought of that person. The heart in your chest beats heavy and bright, nearly visible through your flesh and clothes.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

I just finished chapter one of this book and am liking it so far! The writing style is fun and comedic yet pretty smart. The heroine is quite witty so far.

Have any of you read this book or plan on reading it? Any thoughts on other Sally Thorne novels?

Thanks as always and have a great weekend everyone!

  1. I ADORE this book ❤ There's just something about enemies to lovers that I'm a total sucker for 😀 Have you heard the news about it being made in to a movie? What are your thoughts on the casting of Robbie Amell and Lucy Hale? I can't quite reconcile them with my version of Joshua and Lucy…
