How Kitty Marie’s Reading Corner Started

Last year, around late 2018, I had been trying to change up my watching habits on Youtube to include more worthwhile and uplifting content. I’d started coming across book reviews from various “Booktubers” and I noticed the bright and easy, relaxing atmospheres of these content creators.

I became interested in a ton of books and book series, swept away by the infectious enthusiasm after years away from avid reading. Around that time, I started taking reading as a hobby into full swing, reading every day. I noticed that writing or making voice notes about my feelings towards books really helped with retention. This led to writing reviews on Goodreads, but I noticed that my reviews tended to be so lengthy, thus this blog was started- a place to go in-depth on reviews and keep myself focused on reading and connecting with a large community of readers.

It was a lot of work getting started but totally worth it. I’ve communicated with so many incredible people and really cemented my love of reading and made some good organizational plans via the weekly postings. To all who are reading this, thanks for being here. πŸ˜€ The chats and comments have been a joy, and I’m really struck by how fun it all is.

Two Pieces Of Advice For Book Bloggers

1.) Just get started.

I’d always thought “I’d like to make a blog someday~” but never got around to it. Once you get started, it becomes a mostly easy and natural, if time-consuming process. Just write. You can always go back and edit your posts if you need to. I am constantly editing mine after noticing little mistakes, lol. People are by far and away positive and productive in their responses, and it just always feels good to get a post out there.

2.) Take notes, if needed.

Keep a notebook for recording your ideas, to-dos, and just general things you’re learning while blogging and want to remember. I keep a notebook online via an app called Simplenote. But a real-life notebook for taking notes by hand might be even better. I find myself learning new things about blogging every day and it helps to get those thoughts organized somewhere.

People I Am Nominating For This Award

Many thanks as always for dropping by! I highly recommend checking out all of the blogs listed above, they’re active and mainly book related. πŸ˜€ If you had also nominated me and I didn’t know/forgot to mention you please do feel free to leave a comment and I’ll add you to the intro portion of this post.
