A note about Book Look- This is not a review, rather, a picture-filled overview of lovely or otherwise non-standard editions of books that I find interesting. Editions that have illustrations and/or annotations. Basically- tons of pretty images to show off a unique or special edition that I have or am borrowing.

I’ve been meaning to read Anne of Green Gables and this adorable version immediately caught my eye. The cover is so darn adorable!

This is a THICK book. The page quality is similar to manga volumes, which is to say that the pages are soft and highly textured, not super high quality, but still nice and the book is priced quite reasonably. ($13.99 USD)

The text is fairly large and legible.

This is not a graphic novel edition, it’s the full book with a small amount of illustrations of certain events or characters. The art style is just adorable!

There are also a couple of full-color pages.

The final bit that I really deeply loved is this inclusion of a map. Even when I watched the Netflix Anne of Green Gables re-telling- Anne With An E- I wasn’t totally aware of what Anne’s little corner of the beautiful Prince Edward Island looked like- I just LOVE this map!

I’m intending to read Anne of Green Gables this year but planning on trying to get this annotated edition. I love the big coffee table-style books and this story is lovely enough to warrant that treatment. Will be reviewing that one too when I procure it.

Thanks so much for reading this post. I would love to hear your thoughts. Have you read Anne of Green Gables? Are you interested in reading the series?
All the best,
Kitty
I read the Anne of Green Gables series years ago, a delightful exercise (although the last book goes deep with Lucy Montgomeryโs commentary on World War I.) As a redhead I have loved Anne since I was a little girl facing similar name calling (โRedโ vs. Carrots, but still!) Also had the opportunity while visiting Prince Edward Island to see where Lucy Maud Montgomery wrote the books – a real treat! Enjoy the books! ๐๐๐

I have not read it but my sister absolutely adores the series. I will have to let her know about the graphic novel one!

I love the whole Anne series. I have given out many copies of this illustrated edition to my students. Did you read it yet? And the series?

Thanks for your thoughts! I still need to read the whole Anne of Green Gables series, am very keen to do so this year. It’s been a long time goal to read this classic, still regret not reading it as a child. ๐
